World Compassion Fellowship Charity Impacts Planet by providing food and hygiene care packages to more than 75,000 people globally as part of their COVID-19 Relief Plan

World Compassion Fellowship (WCF) is a humanitarian nonprofit organization that partnered with 20 overseas organizations to provide Food and Hygiene Care packages to over 13,000 families, representing more than 75,000 people across 6 countries: Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Turkey, India and Pakistan. The goal was to provide immediate humanitarian relief to the most vulnerable populations facing severe hardship due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns. WCF partnered with organizations that had longstanding relationships with thousands of refugee and impoverished families in their communities.

The already precarious situation for Refugees, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and extremely poor populations worldwide dramatically worsened since the worldwide lockdowns began in March, 2020. Everyone from these vulnerable groups lost their daily wage jobs. Most governments had run out of goodwill and money for their refugee populations even before the crisis and have struggled to take care of their own poor citizens. Day to day survival has been the most important objective of these families. The pandemic has had the same effect as a natural disaster or a war, but on a global scale.

The food packages included staples such as rice, beans, flour, cooking oil, water and canned foods. The hygiene packages included disinfectant products, masks, gloves, and other items. We left some discretion to the partners to determine the best ways to help in their local contexts. The packages were for a month’s supply for a family of 4 to 6 people.

With the food and care packages that were distributed, families were able to feed their children, sanitize their living areas, protect themselves from potential infection and get subsidized medicine and laboratory test. WCF and our partners received many messages from families expressing their gratitude for the aid that was provided.

WCF is currently preparing with our partners a second round of Food and Hygiene Packages and Medical Relief as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause great hardship in the lives of the most vulnerable worldwide.
