December 3, 2021[PODCAST] Gift of Doubt: What if you’re exactly the leader you need to be?
Discussing “The Surprising Gift of Doubt”
What a thought! Who you are, right now, with what you know and what you’ve experienced is enough. You are capable…in fact, you’re perfectly capable. But you might still have doubts, too—and that’s okay. In fact, those doubts are actually gifts.
In this episode of the Good to Growth podcast, Katie talks about leadership and doubt with Marc Pitman. Marc is the author of the new book The Surprising Gift of Doubt: Using Understanding to Become the Exceptional Leader You’re Meant to Be. This unique read explores how a little self-discovery can help us become self-assured.
While the book applies to all leaders, Katie and Marc focus their discussion on nonprofit leaders and the unique struggles they face. Drawing upon his experience as a renowned fundraising coach, Marc shares stories and tools he’s used to help leaders realize that their doubt is a blessing in disguise. If you need a confidence boost, this episode is for you!

Marc has a passion that makes people call him the “Johnny Appleseed of fundraising.” Marc believes fundraising is all about leadership. Fundraising affects everything from mission and vision to board governance to HR to marketing and community relations. He strives to make it ridiculously easy for everyone—board members, volunteers, and nonprofit staff —to get fundraising training. For example, Ask Without Fear! now has translations in Dutch, Polish, Spanish, and Chinese. Marc also continues to write books, create online fundraising training, and collaborate on systems like 100 Donors in 90 Days.
In addition, Marc’s leadership experience includes planting and pastoring a Vineyard church, managing a gubernatorial campaign, and teaching internet marketing at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Mark received recognition as one of Maine’s first “40 Under Forty,” honoring Maine’s emerging generation of leaders.
He is the husband of his best friend and the father of three amazing kids. And if you see him drive by, he’ll probably be singing 80’s tunes loud enough to embarrass his family.
