Special Education Foundation Installs New Board Members celebrates the appointment of committed leaders charged with advancing an important cause.

At its annual meeting this summer, the Special Education Foundation Board of Directors elected Michael Corry as the new chair of the SEF board. Corry has been serving on the board since 2018 and is leading the effort for SEF to establish a neurodiverse careers initiative, which will provide career placement and meaningful employment opportunities for area students with leading local companies.

Corry retired in 2018 after more than forty years as a Retirement Benefits Consultant as a Principal in The Todd Organization, a firm specializing in designing, providing financial options, and administering Executive Benefit Plans. He’s now dedicating his time to helping children and their families with disabilities.

Corry says that one of his priorities as board chair is to “expand our efforts to help expand SEF’s efforts to help those who need it most, starting with our Critical Needs program.” He adds that another area of focus will be our upcoming neurodiverse careers initiative, which will provide career placement and meaningful employment opportunities for area students with leading local companies.

Also elected as officers to the SEF board last month were Michael Lackey as the board’s Vice Chair, Will Skowya as Treasurer, and Dr. Julia Robinson Burke as Secretary. Lackey is the President and Managing Director at Total Rewards Strategies. Skowya serves as an Account Development Consultant with Express Employment International. Dr. Burke is Chief Executive Officer with Educational Services by Burke, LLC.

Also elected to her first term on the SEF board is Tracy Hayes. Hayes is a Senior Wealth Advisor in the St. Louis office of Mariner Wealth Advisors.

“The leadership of our board is incredibly dedicated and passionate about our mission,” said Executive Director Tim Eby, “and the entire board defines servant leadership in the work they do on behalf of students with disabilities in St. Louis County.”
