December 10, 2021Missouri Mental Health Foundation Appoints Katie Andrews
Missouri Mental Health Foundation Appoints Katie Andrews is Inside Charity’s take on Andrews recent installation at MMHF. The Missouri Mental Health Foundation has appointed Katie Andrews as its new executive director, with the hope of expanding the organization’s presence across Missouri and bringing its mission to all the people in the state.
The Foundation helps raise awareness and understanding of the issues surrounding mental illness, developmental disabilities and substance use disorders and has operated for over ten years across the state. Along with celebrating Missourians at the annual Mental Health Champions event, the organization produces the Director’s Creativity Showcase art expo and Real Voices – Real Choices consumer conference alongside the Missouri Department of Mental Health.
“I am excited about the opportunity we have to elevate Katie Andrews to Executive Director. She has a long history of volunteering and working with the MMHF. Over several years, she has worked to help grow our Real Voices – Real Choices conference and various events. Katie is very motivated with several great ideas for advancing the Foundation,” said Terry Trafton, president of the MMHF Board of Directors.
“The Board of Directors and I look forward to activating our mission in new ways under Katie’s leadership along with advancing our efforts to battle stigma and discrimination, promote care and treatment, and foster inclusion in the community and the workforce,” added Trafton.
Under Andrews’ direction, the Foundation will expand its resource offerings to include a speaker’s bureau and management of the RESPECT Institute of Missouri, a public education program where individuals share powerful stories of their mental health journey.
“I have worked in collaboration with the MMHF for almost a decade, and in that time, I have valued the mission and the goals of the organization. I am thrilled to continue the Foundation’s great work and will work towards expanding our reach in the coming years,” said Andrews. “I will faithfully keep the reduction of stigma in mind as we work on developing new programs and initiatives for Missourians.”
Andrews is a Missouri Department of Mental Health veteran and previously worked alongside the Foundation to coordinate the annual Real Voices – Real Choices conference. She graduated from Florida State University with a master’s degree in social work.
