Pamela Ballard – Leading Susan G. Komen Tulsa To New Heights

Pamela-Ballard Susan G. Komen

Pamela Ballard is the CEO of Susan G. Komen Tulsa, a breast cancer organization that ensures women and men receive over 4,000 screenings and diagnostic services a year. Komen also provides 4,551 women and men educational services that keep them safe including outreach and patient navigation services.

Pamela joined Komen in January of 2017. Since that time she’s increased financial capacity by 30% and has put in place budgetary measures that have increased services and secured this organization’s future. Pamela recently shared, “Joining the Komen team means each day I get to be part of the world’s largest network of breast cancer survivors and activists working together to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all, and energize science to find the cure,” said Ballard. “That’s a pretty magnificent job description and I’m more than grateful to be part of this incredible community.”

Breast cancer is a type of cancer where cells in the breast tissue divide and grow without normal control. It is a widespread and random disease, striking women and men of all ages and races. It is estimated that more than 1.6 million new cases of breast cancer occurred among women worldwide in 2015. The exact cause of the disease is unknown, and at this time, there is no cure.

But there is hope. Thanks to heightened awareness, early detection through screening, improved treatment methods and increased access to breast health services, people have a greater chance of survival than ever before.

The Susan G. Komen® national website, www.komen.org, offers comprehensive information about breast cancer risk factors, early detection and screening, diagnosis and treatment. Developed in conjunction with the Harvard School of Public Health, the site offers a one-stop resource for all the latest information on the disease.

Congratulations Pam! Let’s keep striving to eradicate this horrible disease. Let’s beat and end breast cancer!

Pamela has 15 years of non-profit experience and previously worked as the executive director for the United Way in Enid, Oklahoma. She holds a master degree in human resources and holds National Association of Nonprofit Organizations and Executives credentials including CNE (Certified Nonprofit Executive), CDE (Certified Development Executive) and CNC (Certified Nonprofit Consultant.) Pamela also serves on NANOE’s 2019 Board of Governors. Ballard is a Sapulpa, OK native who is excited to be returning home to lead an organization that works daily to improve the health and well-being of others.
